At Herring we always try to make purchasing from us as easy and pleasurable as possible. One of the main concerns that buyers from outside the UK have is the amount of duty they may have to pay. That is why we have invested in a cutting edge technology solution that will calculate any local duties and import duties for you and display that information within the basket before payment.
If you are logged in and we have your total basket amount and delivery postcode we are very confident that the amount we are showing is correct. We are also confident that when we say there is no duty you will be able to purchase worry free. We do have to be clear that there is always a chance the calculation is incorrect and we are not liable for any incorrect information. If you have any issues we want to know about them to ensure the accuracy of the system and we will, as always, be reasonable in dealing with any issues arising from an error.
If you have the option to pay the taxes up front, which is not available to all customers due to some limitations to our system, then be aware that you will still have to reclaim the duty yourself if you need to return or exchange an item. We may be able to help in the US and Canada but we are only collecting the taxes on your behalf and passing them to DHL to expedite the process.
DHL are the company that will pay the duty on your behalf and deliver the goods to you. There is a small fee included in the duty calculation we display (currently £5) that is paid to DHL to cover their administration of the payments. Herring shoes are not acting to either pay your duty or reclaim it.
As this system is new as of October 2017 we expect to improve it and make further changes so we would welcome any feedback to help us fine-tune the experience.
